Description
Stripes added to embroidered characters, give a belt importance and weight. The standard of most recognized schools in Japan is one stripe for Renshi, two stripes for Kyoshi, and three for grades above that. Other schools allow for one stripe per dan grade. Whatever you choose, the stripes need to match the style color of the embroidered characters precisely and be lock-stitched at both ends to prevent unravelling. Stripes should be sewn onto the belt at the same time as any other embroidered design you choose so that everything matches and is balanced as far as color and layout are concerned. As belts are custom embroidered, it’s almost impossible to add stripes to an already embroidered belt that align perfectly aligned with the original design. This, and the cost of returning a belt for additional embroidery, makes it impractical.
If you want, for example, two stripes embroidered on both sides of your belt, order four stripes and select the “split between sides” option when you order.
If you want some special arrangement for your karate dan grade stripes, please list your instructions in the “Notes About Your Order” box on the Checkout Page and/or call us on 818 889 3856.
